About Us
About NICHECYCLING
In December 2023, one of my New Year’s resolutions was to learn CAD design. My first attempts ended up being bike parts. With the necessary support from various companies and a budget, this grew into the company NICHECYCLING in July 2025.
As a small business, our focus is on high-quality components. Low fixed costs and small-batch production allow us to deliver in areas where large corporations often have to compromise on attention to detail. We are always open to feedback, improvements, alternative products, and new product ideas.
To use a metaphor from Nassim Nicholas Taleb: NICHECYCLING strives to be the antifragile fire that grows stronger in the wind of crisis, while that same wind extinguishes other candles.
Unfortunately, with our current margins, we’re not able to offer dealer discounts.
In 2025, alongside our in-house products, we also began distributing Intend bc, Loamlab, and Outlier.
About me
My name is Ianis Caratti.
I’ve tried many cycling disciplines, from enduro to triathlon but I find the most joy in track cycling, cyclocross, and criteriums. I still race in these disciplines today, with moderate success.

I got my start in the industry back in 2010 at the sporting goods store Sportplausch Wider. Mr. Wider showed us how high-quality products, combined with personal service and creative marketing, can amplify each other’s impact. (More on Sportplausch Wider’s marketing later …)
By now, it’s been 16 years in this industry, and along the way, a number of ideas have come to life. Here are a few quirky examples for which I could find photos:

Aerodynamic Garmin mount designed to fit the threaded inserts on Specialized saddles

Aerodynamic Garmin mount V2

240 mm BCA prototype brake rotor on an enduro bike – worked great in summer, but in winter it never reached operating temperature. Also, at over 300 g, it wasn’t exactly light

Idler pulley on a single-pivot frame to completely eliminate pedal kickback

ICR conversion on a 2021 Trek Crockett using a Madone Project One fork

Titanium wire-secured rotor bolts, inspired by motorsport
In 2019, I bought my first full-suspension bike and built it up with the following Intend components:
Intend Edge fork
Intend Corona seat clamp
Intend Stiffmaster headset
Intend Grace stem
Intend Dandy top cap

At that time, the carbon guards from Rulezman were the only option. Today, Intend offers the Blackline models with beautifully CNC-machined stanchion guards.
Finally, here are a few funny old ads from Sportplausch Wider. Please note that these were from a different time, when different social norms applied.
